Cubic Zirconia Wobbler

Design Inspiration

This machine is an oscillating cylinder steam engine also known as a “wobbler”.
The first patented oscillating engine was built by Joseph Maudslay in 1827 and they were
typically used for marine applications.
This one, however, is probably the  first running oscillating steam engine made entirely out
of Cubic Zirconia and gold and silver.
Mine is just the vertical version.

Dimensions : 65 mm  x  50 mm  x  55 mm

Materials : Gold, silver, cubic zirconia

Closer Look at Antikythera

I faceted the cubic zirconia from rough. It has 264 facets.
I designed and handmade the shaft and base of the wobbler
using  20g of 14k gold and  50g of silver.
It took about 100 hours to build.
